Her father Brian was an equine veterinarian who took his own life when Bea was three years old. She was not told the cause of his death until she was thirteen. Bea adopted the stage name Bea to pay tribute to her father and she wrote an article for The Guardian in 2017 about the family's suicide experience. Bea, along with her sister Sinead and her sister Sinead, were brought up with Helen Moloney (n e Moloney) who was a jockey and teacher at a secondary-school. She and her family loved horses, race meetings and the racing industry. Bea was a child an instructor for the Irish National Stud. From a very young age, Bea knew that she was not interested in racing as a career. She was more interested in the artistic arts.
